OUR SPACE

OUR SPACE was an extracurricular project that started in November 2019. GEH8 invited children and young people between the ages of 13 and 18 to become an integral part of a creative community of artists and artisans, to learn about their professional practice, and to participate in GEH8’s work as a vibrant space for art and culture through their own artistic research and work. For the project, GEH8 made its premises and open spaces available for testing the artistic and cultural practices learned in the project, with a special interest in their suitability for participation processes and for culture-led urban development. Accompanied by experienced mentors and various experts from the fields of art, architecture, urban planning and history, GEH8 could be used both for artistic learning, design and production processes and as a new place of identification in the urban area.

The project ran in completed annual stages from 2019-2021 over a total period of two years. Since it is a project of the “EU- Stadtteilentwicklungsprojekt Nördliche Vorstadt Dresden”, the participants had to be resident within the EU project area in the north of Dresden.
