INFO Body Maps / Body Pictures

Painting our own body map (or body map) helps us discover the connections between the individual stories and places in our lives. This develops a deeper understanding of our own inner power, which helps us to be healthy and radiate positively to the world around us. You don’t need any previous experience. You don’t have to be an artist to be able to paint a body map!

About the process of the workshop: In the beginning, you paint a life-size outline of your body. In the course of the workshop you develop your own body map and find images for your body’s own story in accompanied fantasy journeys. One fills the body map with the newly found symbols and images and color. Through painting one finds expression without the detour of words. In a playful way, themes such as self-image or trauma can be expressed. The workshop is accompanied by Marleen Andreev (artist) and Anne Weber (doctor) and translators. Participants enter into active contact with others without having to choose language as the first means. One combines the experience of painting and drawing with experiences of the body through movement and touch. Through shared fantasy journeys one discovers access to one’s personal life stories and those of the other participants. We will provide food snacks and non-alcoholic beverages for the workshop.

The participants’ bodymaps will be presented in an artistic space installation one week later on June 11, 2016, starting at 4 p.m. at the exhibition opening “Everybody Bodymap!” by Marleen Andreev. The artist will draw the body outlines of the visitors in a performance on the opening evening. In addition, there will be a summer party at GEH8 Kunstraum und Ateliers e.V. with international food and music by the bands Seau Volant and Wippe & Schaukel from Berlin as well as Dj Tiney and Dj Cover. All participants with their friends and families are cordially invited!
