                                   PARTICIPANTS

Bauhaus-Universität / Weimar:

ANNELIESE JOHN & SARAH HORN with POSENWECHSEL

Alice is in her mid-20s and works as a mannequin in a clothing store. In the midst of her professional life, which is characterized by fierce competition, she longs for change, when suddenly a secret admirer shakes up the everyday life behind the window.

CLAUDIUS SEITER with ROTATIONEN DER SAALE

This is a documentation of the Döbritschen hydroelectric power plant on the Saale River in northern Thuringia. On display is the process of water purification as well as the generation of electricity by the passing water. The rotating life of the machinery is juxtaposed with the constant flow of the Saale and at the same time the symbiosis of both is shown. Water and machine are mutually dependent in this place, where nature and man-made, industrial merge into each other.

KATHARINA MÄNZ with POROUS

Dark matter creeps from one side to the other. Materials transform into fluidity. A seeping and dripping can be heard, a grainy texture emerges. Quiet words creep into the silence. A collage of textures and materialities slowly assembles, opens its pores and flows into the ground.

HFBK Dresden:

AA FILMS with INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO WALK AMONG THE ONES WHO REST

The artificially generated voice of a child gives instructions on how to behave in a cemetery, among those who are resting there. It gives advice on how to deal with the fear that arises when silence and darkness set in and one is all alone. The motif of this short film is the ability of our inner child to transform the fear of death into a need with the world of the invisible, which leads us on a journey to the limits of the fantastic.

JONAS FREUDENBERGER with KLIPP-KLAPP

A house burns the moment it is repaired. A dialogue passes away at the moment of passing.

HGB Leipzig:

LISA SCHMIDT with EVROS

EVROS is a dance performance on the Greek-Turkish border. Illegal border crossings, violent pushbacks, human rights violations. The dancer is Ayinde. 11 years after his own escape, the first time back in this place. Dancing. Each scene a one-take. Fly buzzing and waves crashing in the summer landscape, gunshots in the background while Ayinde dances and I film.

SIJO CHOI KIM with GUT INTEGRIERT (OmU)

The subtitle, an additional graphic layer of information used to understand the original language in foreign language films, hijacks the film and tells a story about itself.

SOFI MCHEDLISHVILI with ZEITKAPSEL

ZEITKAPSEL explores profound themes of human existence. The short film represents a metaphorical journey through life, death and nature. It addresses questions about the meaning of life, fear, darkness and the inexorable passage of time. It reflects on what it means to be human on earth.

Burg Giebichenstein:

HANNAH-FREDERIKE ECKINGER with DIE TANTE

It is about an encounter between me and my very devout aunt.

LISANN GREINER-BECHERT with WINDPARK HOLLEBEN: EIN LICHTSPIEL BEI NACHT

Well-known and yet a mystery: Wiras. The flightless triple-winged moths can be spotted in many places in the Saxony-Anhalt landscape. Due to their enormous size, they can be seen from afar, especially along highways and freeways, some swarms can be observed. But hardly anyone has dared to take a closer look at the habitat of these fascinating giants. The reportage provides information about the delicate creatures in the wind park and combines breathtaking nature shots with never seen before detailed views.

Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee:

BELEN RESNIKOWSKI with AWICHA

“Awicha” explores ancestral ties, inspired by “Achachila”. (Aymara for sacred mountains). The video delves into family narratives, life, death, farewells, and migration’s emotional impact across continents, connecting with landscapes. An ephemeral journey of longing and land’s essence.

UdK Berlin:

JAKOB EREK SEN with SUN

This work deals with the sun from different perspectives. At the beginning with an anthropocentric perspective: industry that springs from the energy of the sun and light, electricity and religion. Thereupon the view widens: The light and life-giving sun, can take this away very quickly. Finally, it is about our perception and time. The installation consists of a suspended projection screen and a (empty) gas heater standing on the floor.

PAULINE PYRAS, NORA VEISMANN AND ALINA ABBERGER

with SCHUTZKÖRPER

Protective objects! Substances become protective objects. They surround the vulnerable body and try to protect it. In the relationship between protective substances and the human body, the destruction and discarding of this supposed protection occurs. An act of self-destruction.

Universität Greifswald:

LAURA SCHÖNING with DAYS OFF

This project starts as a dialogue with artificial intelligence on the subject of rest and leisure, as it delves deeper into deeper questions of care work, exhaustion and work distribution. By combining non-human generated visual material with my personal smartphone film archive, I aim to explore the dynamic relationship between humans and Ai -that is characterized by both closeness and distance. The project seeks to offer a reflection on the limits of AI, while researching my very own limits.
