Extend! 5th Verstärker Kunst-Film-Festival: Call for Entries

On the 7th of October the GEH8 Art and Culture Center in Dresden will host the 5th Verstärker Kunst-Film- Festival and present the Verstärker Award as part of it. The film festival is aimed at students from the new federal states. In a publicscreening the visitors/- and an expert jury are called to vote for their favorite.

Under the title “Amplifier” the GEH8 presents projects and exhibitions of students of the HfBK Dresden and other art colleges of the new federal states. Besides its own exhibitions and projects, the GEH8 repeatedly opens its space to young artists and artists and thus provides better artistic production and presentation conditions in Dresden. Dresden. With “Amplifier”, a format of its own has now been created for the first time, which supports and honors up-and-coming artistic positions and honors them.



CAROLIN QUERMANN: Carolin Quermann studied and received her doctorate in art history in Münster and Berlin. After a scientific traineeship at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, she became a staff member at the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin. Since 2007, she has been curator for graphic art and sculpture at the Städtische Galerie Dresden. In this capacity, she has conceived and realized numerous exhibitions and catalogs on art in Dresden from the 19th century to the present.

CHRISTIAN ZIMMERMANN: Christian Zimmermann was born in Leipzig in 1975. After studying contemporary dance in the early 90s and professional excursions in various fields, he worked as a freelance project manager since 2005. He headed the Filmverband Sachsen e.V. from 2011 – 2017 and has been acting as a freelance location scout and production consultant with a focus on Central Germany since 2019. Here he finds suitable locations especially for international feature films.

ANNA RYZHKOVA (GUEST JUROR): Anna Ryzhkova was born in Kaliningrad in 1998. In 2007 she moved to Germany and grew up in Chemnitz. Since 2019, she has been studying media art and design at Bauhaus University Weimar and has been supporting Traumhaus Studio Erfurt as a temp in animation and illustration since October 2021. Since 2020 she also works freelance on animation commissions. In the course of her studies, she has already been able to realize several cinematic projects. These include the films “entrapped” and “a part of me”.
