Reopening geh8 Kunstraum und Ateliers e.V.

Dear friends of geh8,

After more than a year of closure, countless appointments and correspondence with authorities, brave perseverance and above all great commitment from a multitude of supporters – for which we would once again like to thank you most sincerely! – we can finally reopen geh8 with its studios and as an art space.

Of course, this should not happen quietly. Therefore, we cordially invite you to celebrate this new beginning with us. Food and drink will be provided from 15:00 until late at night, and three bands and four DJs will be on hand day and night to provide both relaxation and the necessary adrenaline to keep the dancing going. If you can’t live without soccer, you can watch the match Germany vs. Ghana in the evening in our mini soccer lounge.

In the early evening we are looking forward to the art exchange FITAX500, which we are organizing in cooperation with the Tupajumi Foundation from Rotterdam.

And what else is going to happen with us this year?

In a nice tradition we will open our World Cup Lounge again and show the games of this year’s World Cup on big screen. However, this will only be possible from 26.06. onwards. We will start with the current preliminary round and show the match Germany – USA, which we will watch together with our American guest artists Shauna Merriman and Kaveri Raina.

On July 6th we will open our first exhibition this year and present the master students of the HfBK Michiko Nakatani and Shauna Merriman in a joint farewell exhibition. Both will leave Dresden in late summer. This exhibition will end on July 20 with the video/dance/site-specific performance “Tracce” by Stefania Milazzo.

Musically, the solo artists Hannes Buder (17.07.), Frank Gratkowski (15.08.) and the quartet “Cobald Cluster” (26.09.) will play the space. All three concerts are characterized by a high level of playing and, by developing their own playing techniques, each in its own way creates a very special atmosphere that corresponds with the space, its appearance and acoustics and, if necessary, parallel exhibitions.

For the exhibition “Bulgarska Rabota – Bulgarian Work” we invite seven Bulgarian artists, who raise questions about public political debates and give insight into the reality of life at home and abroad. The opening date is September 05.
