WERKRaum Exhibition + Vernissage // Marleen Andreev + Amanda Bartak: LIAISON Kunst trifft Design – Ausstellung und Diskursfeld

Visual artist Marleen Andreev invites designer Amanda Bartak to the GEH8 workroom. Both share a passion for stimulating collaboration that allows their respective genres to cross-fertilize each other. With their complementary formal languages, they embark on a joint experimental search for interfaces between the often separate worlds of fine art and design.

An expansive installation will be on display that simultaneously provides insights into the different creative worlds and juxtaposes the works of the protagonists. In this way, Marleen Andreev and Amanda Bartak open up a stimulating discourse for and with viewers of their exhibition. In addition to the vernissage, a further event is planned at which the protagonists will be present and invite interested parties to enter into conversation with them. The communicative, open exchange is crucial to the exhibition concept. The resulting insights can influence the overall work and be integrated into the expansive installation.

Marleen Andreev  works as a visual artist and art therapist in Dresden. The search for the greatest possible freedom in her artistic expression has led her to the limits of techniques, media and materials ever since she began studying painting. Breaking through these boundaries remains an eternal venture for her, giving her room for cross-genre experiments. She constantly re-examines her artistic forms of expression in order to generate unexpected connections and transitions. In random painting experiments, material writings, conceptual installations, participative moments or art-therapeutic interventions, the diversity of life is made visible from her perspective as a visual artist.

Amanda Bartak studied product design. She worked in classic product and communication design and teaching from 2008 to 2023. She then changed her professional perspective and began a two-year self-study program that enabled her to enter the world of ceramics. Since then, she has been creating timeless and unique ceramic pieces that are characterized by reduced gestures and forms. In the uniqueness of her objects, the designer expresses her deep connection to nature and the originality of the materiality of clay, as well as her desire for a patient and meditative way of working.
