Open Call for the bulgarian and german exhibition project “Same Standing /183”

END of application: 20. August 2014

On the occasion of the exhibition “BULGARSKA RABOTA”, which will open on September 5 in the art space of geh8, one of the exhibiting artists Miná Minov has written an Open Call. The concern of the exhibition project is the exchange of Bulgarian and German artists. Questions about possible prejudices, national self-image and dealing with one’s own culture are dealt with in a media-free form.

Are you an artist?
Are you exactly 183 cm tall?

If you answer yes to both questions, this is already a direct invitation to you to participate in the group exhibition entitled Same Standing /183.

Please send a mail to Miná Minov with an image of one of your chosen works.

Deadline for application via mail is August 20, 2014.

Please bring your work to the Kunstraum geh8 (Gehestr. 8, 01127 Dresden) from September 1 to 3 between 10:00 and 18:00, have your ID ready to check your height or get measured on site.

Letter from Miná Minov:

Dear potential participant,

I have been invited as an artist to the exhibition Bulgarska Rabota in the art space geh8, which will be presented from 5-27.9. Instead of showing my own work, I decided to curate a small exhibition in the context of the larger exhibition. Same Standing /183 is open to anyone who is the same size as me. Find yourself in an unexpected grouping of artists. Find out if your work has anything in common with the others, or simply how you would fit into this alternative selection criterion – objectively, clearly but openly, and with unpredictable results. Feel encouraged to respond artistically to what criterion you were selected by.

See what it is like to subordinate your own “I” to various forms of a “we”.

Thank you. I hope to see you at the exhibition!
With best regards

Miná Minov (artist/curator)
