GEH8 2030 – Feasibility Study for GEH8+
As part of a grant from the Fonds Soziokultur, we are currently developing a strategic concept for GEH8. The key focus areas include: expanding our target audience, developing new formats and themes, spatial development and site usage, as well as ecological sustainability.
In March 2025, we visited ufaFabrik in Berlin – a pioneering project in ecological urban development and sociocultural work – and ZK/U, the Center for Art and Urbanistics, for inspiration and to exchange experiences. The impressions we gathered there are directly informing our ongoing reflections and planning.
Looking ahead, we are entering a developmental process with the architectural firm Raum und Bau from Dresden to explore concrete approaches and scenarios for the future structural development of GEH8. Also involved in this process are architects Gudrun Deppe and Luzie Dörfelt, staff members at the Chair of Urbanism and Design at TU Dresden. They are supporting us with their extensive experience in participatory processes, co-productive planning methods, and process-oriented design.
Throughout this process, it is especially important to us to harmonize ecological responsibility, social participation, and cultural use
