FALL

GEH8 Kunstraum & Ateliers e.V. invites you to FALL, an international group exhibition by the artists Svea Duwe (Dresden) and Fabien Zocco (Lille/Fr).

In the space-related synopsis, the two artists reflect uncertainty, change and dissolution as current feelings of life in society and represent this through contradictory or tense new relations between virtual and real material. In his media installations, Zocco connects our reality in a concrete poetic way with contents of virtual space. Duwe transfers materials and motifs from everyday life into new contexts in her installations and photographs, focusing on orientation – ruins of the future – patterns.

Opening: September 29 at 8 p.m. Introduction by Catherine Nichols (English)
Exhibition period: Sept. 29-Oct. 22.
Opening hours: Sat. – Sun. 3 – 6 p.m.

Uncertainty and change in society

The title of the exhibition is Fall – as in the subject of an investigation, falling, or in English, “autumn.”

Rapid technological development, the social challenge of migration, the entanglement of political responsibility and show business are just three aspects of our life reality that create a sense of insecurity in society. This felt reality seems to lead to a delimiting and hedging attitude in all areas of life, undermining moral standards. The exhibition finds images for this constricting in-between state, in which time-honored structures dissolve and change must take place.

The exhibition concept: a space-related exhibition event.

In the exhibition, installations and photographs by Svea Duwe (Dresden) and media installations by Fabien Zocco (Lille/Fr) are presented in a space-related manner as a coherent exhibition event.

Zocco develops media installations from contents of virtual space, while Duwe transfers materials and motifs from everyday life into new contexts in her installations and photographs. She will show several recent installations, as well as photographs on the themes of orientation – ruins of the future – patterns. Patterns can be found in her works as ornaments, architectural structure but also as role patterns. Fabien Zocco will contribute three media installations that create poetic references between reality and the content of the Internet.
