Lecture and discussion: Sacred duties
Tuesday 7 July 2015, 8 pm
Lecture and discussion with Friedrich Hausen and members of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Religionsphilosophie:
It is not only ignorance or conflicting interests that separate us from other people and traditions, but also conflicting obligations, and this especially where these concern “sacred values” or core meanings of the respective ways of life. The lecture will both interpret the concept of the “sacred”, which has become a matter of course in our secular world, and discuss the extent to which the “sacred” can bind and oblige, and where its divisive as well as unifying potential might lie.
