Space is the case

On Friday, December 9, the Institut für räumliche Resilienz e.V. and GEH8 Kunst Raum Ateliers invite you to celebrate together. We would like to look back on our past artistic-urban projects on the site of the Old Leipzig Station and at the same time give a foretaste of what we are planning in the new year, a “Permanent Representation” for the common good.

This is part of the 2023 annual program of GEH8. It is themed SPACE IS THE CASE and reflects, among other things, the importance of spaces for creatives, for common good and informal uses. We believe that the urban development decisions, opportunities for participation and existing open spaces of today determine the quality of urban coexistence of the next generation(s) and define not insignificantly the importance of Dresden as a location in the context of urban change processes.

The preservation and strengthening of participation is essential for a sense of cohesion, joint creation and identification of the individual in the urban fabric. Especially in challenging times, this provides significant support. For years, the Alte Leipziger Bahnhof in Dresden has been a place of subcultural longing and hope for many young users. Rarely have so many projects and creative ideas been developed in one place by a lively young scene in Dresden. Rarely are so many wishes and expectations linked to one place.

We have known the area for many years and would like to emphasize its potential for strengthening the common good and a lively subculture in Dresden and to appreciate the enormous creativity of the users. In numerous projects on the site of the Alte Leipziger Bahnhof, cooperations and ideas have emerged in the last two years that successfully tested artistic practices as tools for sustainable urban development and at the same time offered a platform for actors and activities.

On this day, the Institute for Spatial Resilience and GEH8 would like to present some of these exciting projects and create a space for exchange, networking as well as critical reflection, but above all celebrate together with good food and drinks, live music and DJ tunes.
