Europe is shaped from Brussels? Not true: Europe is everywhere and much closer than is generally assumed. It can be experienced not only through the processes and decisions of the EU institutions, but also very concretely in the reality of our lives. And the best thing is that you can help shape the future of Europe yourself in various ways. In a relaxed workshop setting, followed by snacks and drinks, different representatives will present four different ways to stand up for Europe and exchange ideas with other Europeans.<\/p>\n

After a short input lecture on the four formats, the speakers will each give two 30-minute presentations at topic tables about their work and commitment to Europe.<\/p>\n

1.) European Citizens’ Initiatives with Ronald Blaschke (Coordinator EBI Basic Income)
\n2.) European honorary office and engagement in AG’s with Matthias Ecke (SPE Activists) and Maria-Teresa R\u00f6lke (Europa Union and JEF Saxony)
\n3.) Conference on the Future of Europe (COFE) with Katja Sinko (Team Europe of the European Commission)
\n4-) European Solidarity Corps (ESK) with former volunteers from Dresden (ESK participant)<\/p>\n

The instrument of the European Citizens’ Initiatives (ECI)<\/span><\/a> is used to ask the European Commission to propose new laws and thus influence EU policy – unique! Once one million signatures have been collected for a citizens’ initiative, the Commission decides on follow-up measures.<\/p>\n

European honorary office and commitment in AGs: Europa-Union Deutschland (EUD)<\/span><\/a> and the associated Young European Federalists (JEF) are the largest citizens’ initiative for Europe in Germany. As Saxon regional associations, they are also committed to European unification, regardless of party affiliation, age or profession. The PES Activists<\/span><\/a> are the Dresden activists of the Party of European Socialists and campaign locally for a more social and democratic Europe.<\/p>\n

At the Conference on the Future of Europe (COFE)<\/span><\/a>, citizens can exchange ideas with people from all over Europe through debates and discussion series and help shape our common future. The conference is the first of its kind: as a Europe-wide exercise in democracy, it provides a new public forum for open, inclusive and transparent citizen debate on key priorities and challenges.<\/p>\n

The EU-funded European Solidarity Corps (ESC)<\/span><\/a> is a great opportunity for young people to volunteer for a social and diverse Europe. With the EU-funded program, 18- to 30-year-olds can complete funded volunteer services, internships, work placements, and their own solidarity projects at various non-profit projects across Europe, while strengthening social cohesion in the EU.<\/p>\n

We ask for registration via the link and the selection of two of the four theme tables for the evening. In the subsequent get-together, the participants can network with each other independently of the topic tables.<\/strong><\/p>\n
