After the prologue in 2014, the third concert of the series “Old Masters” will again take place at our concert hall.<\/p>\n

At the center of the concert on November 24, Matthias Lorenz will present “pression” by Helmut Lachenmann from 1969. This composition marks one of the starting points of the \u201emusique concr\u00e8te instrumentale\u201c<\/span><\/a>, which considers the instrument throughout in the literal sense as a sounding body, without, however, attempting to deny the tradition of the intrument in our musical history. Although before this tradition, the instrument can also be dealt with differently: Then, when it is understood as an object in space, which the player as a person makes sound in a completely new way. In this way, a lightness emerges that is also the eponym and theme of this third concert in the series.<\/p>\n

In Klaus Huber’s piece “Transpositio ad Infinitum” lightness is understood in a completely different way. Here it lies in virtuosity, the joy of creating great quantity.<\/p>\n

The end of the concert is a world premiere and at the same time closes the circle. The piece “Drift” by Benjamin Schweitzer, who studied composition at the HfM in Dresden, takes up the context to Lachenmann and leads the theme updated back to the year 2017.<\/p>\n

These three very different musical approaches to the concept of lightness will be commented on by Matthias Lorenz this evening, as usual, and made clear by means of examples. A good opportunity, therefore, not only to hear contemporary music but also to have it conveyed in a profound way.<\/p>\n
