\u201cFilms in Dialogue\u201d marks the launch of a new film series at GEH8 in Dresden that focuses on cinema as a space for conversation. On each event evening, two films will be screened back-to-back that are linked in terms of content, aesthetics, or theme. There will be an intermission between screenings, providing an opportunity for exchange, socializing, and initial conversations. To ensure this exchange doesn\u2019t take place on an empty stomach, the team at the GEH8 Ateliercaf\u00e9 OTTO will be serving food and drinks.<\/p>\n

What makes \u201cFilme im Dialog\u201d special is the open format of the announcement: The titles of the films are not revealed in advance, but only hinted at through associative descriptions. This piques the curiosity of the audience (similar to sneak previews at the cinema) and allows for an open-minded approach to the films\u2014without preconceived expectations, but with an awareness of the resonances that arise between the two works. The thoughtfully designed space and the food prepared for each evening enrich the shared experience<\/p>\n

Each evening is curated and moderated by Heinz Schm\u00f6ller and Christoph Ziener. They place the films in a broader context, outline an overarching theme, and provide impetus for the subsequent discussion. In this way, the evenings become not merely film screenings, but curated, sensorially experiential spaces for dialogue in which films engage with one another\u2014and the audience is<\/p>\n

Film 1<\/em>

\nA court jester roams a kingdom in decay. Masks, rituals, and grotesque games lead him through a world celebrating its own downfall. In fairy-tale-like images that oscillate between theater, painting,
\nand dream, a parable of power and insignificance unfolds\u2014a dance of death marked by magical slowness, pale beauty, and quiet melancholy.<\/p>\n
